The Ventures

Back in 1964 or so I'd spend hours on my bedroom floor, building models of cars, planes, and monsters from kits I'd bought at the dime store.  I had a portable record player that I kept turning with albums by groups like Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, The Beach Boys, and The Beatles.  One album that received as much play as any of them was The Ventures in Space.

The song "Sleepwalk" was not on that album, but it's a standard that I had heard by many other groups. The Ventures are a group that might be heard in my dreams.   The song "Sleepwalk" would be an appropriate choice for a dream soundtrack.

  2. I love this song Lee! It's definitely dreamy...actually was featured in one of my dreams a long time ago, but I still remember it. Great choice for today. :)

  4. Yep, it's definitely got a dreamy quality to it, what with all that reverb and the haunting melody.

    Good choice, BOIDMAN.

  5. I heard this song already, but can't recall where and when!
I think it could be a perfect soundtrack for a movie, although it doesn't really match the dream atmosphere I usually am in when I dream...
I guess our dreams are quite different in nature and contents! :)

  6. Blast from the past...suddenly I am back in my room listening to my brothers' record player or radio. I was reading a book while they put together their models.

    Good memories.

  8. Yvonne -- "Sleepwalk" is a classic that was performed by many artists.

Tracy -- This has been a longtime favorite instrumental of mine.

Guilie -- I never heard this played too much after the 60s.

StMc -- I thought you could appreciate this one.

Jay -- I wouldn't say that this is a song I'd hear in a dream, but it effectively recreates a sense of dream thought for me.

Susan -- Sounds like your brother and I could have been friends back then.

Paula -- I'd say this tune has memories for many of us of that era.
