Cover of The BandThere's something about the ragged, rootsy sound of The Band that takes me back to a place of memories and musings in the same way that dreams often do. The Band's premiere album amazed me when I discovered it in the record section of the J.C. Penney store in the Midland Shopping Center and their second album was equal to the first. These still rank as two of my all time favorite albums.
The song "Whispering Pines" is true dream music--one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded in my opinion. Listening to this song can put me in a reverie and evoke past moments that are disassociated from any specific time in my memory. I never tire of hearing this song and it never fails to move me in the deepest part of where my dreams are born.
